Andy Williamson, tenor saxophonist I specialise in tenor and baritone saxophone; I also play alto and soprano when needed. I can add vocals if necessary and clarinet or piano if you're desperate. I'm happy reading the dots in a big band, recording session or horn section; I'm equally happy busking head arrangements with other musicians in any style. I've got a decent library of tunes tucked away in the grey cells including most of the things that tend to get called at jazz or function gigs.

[this all needs links and formatting to be added] I play at weddings (link to offer & testimonials), private parties (link to offer etc) , concerts (list), public events (list) and festivals (list). My main bands are the Big Buzzard Boogie Band and the Andy Williamson Buzztet. As well as my these (link) I play with the Brass Volcanoes, The Organ Grinders, Pavlov, The Denbone Walkers, Bruce/Islet Big Band and Tonus Peregrinus. Over the years I've shared the stage with Jamie Cullum, Stacey Kent,MoBo Best Jazz Act 2012 Zoe Rahman, Michael Parkinson favourite Joanna Eden and the irrepressible Mama Tokus. To Book Tickets: Testimonials: “I love turning up just trusting Andy’s taste in music - I often have no idea what I will hear but am always at least impressed by the quality of people performing on the tiny stage before me and at best, which is often, I find myself utterly transported by the talent I have witnessed. What luck to have this in a place so far off the beaten track” Weddings I love playing at weddings and really enjoy using music to create something special during the service or at the reception. This has involved solo sax, duetting with other musicians, creating a ‘jazz service’, getting family and friends to sing ‘Lean on Me’ during a service with no celebrant, and creating new music or new arrangements for the service or for a first dance. For a Indian-Jewish-English wedding, I created a whole day of music which included a performance by tabla maestro Kuljit Bhamra, adding Bangra-style percussion to the Big Buzzard Boogie Band and singing the traditional Simcha Jewish wedding songs while the bride and groom were carried around the room in a frenzy. I play in a number of regular bands with some wonderful musicians from all over the country. There's my own small Buzztet, various collaborations from silly jazz and cabaret, to the large and funky Big Buzzard Boogie Band. I can provide a quality band of musicians, with a play list to suit your musical preference (and help you blend a range of styles if you find it hard to choose) and a size of band to suit your budget. I provide a full PA system with recorded music between sets. You are welcome to use my equipment for all your sound needs on the day. What to expect We’ll have a detailed conversation, usually by phone, to talk about what you’re looking for – whether you have a very specific requirement or are looking for guidance on how to create an enjoyable family event with music. I’ll book all the musicians and make arrangements: you only have to deal with me. I’ll arrive and leave at a pre-agreed time to set up the space and pack it up again according to your requirements. Providing a meal and drinks for the band is the norm – a happy band plays the best music! They will be driving, so no need to worry about the size of the bar bill. Payment by cash on the night is our preference but a bank transfer is also possible. (shouldn’t you ask for a deposit up front and have a contract re cancellation fees and notice periods?)
