Members of the Big Buzzard Brass Section The Big Buzzard Brass Band is inspired by the New Orleans brass bands, which traditionally provided music for funeral processions in that great city. The line up is flexible, with the bass being provided by sousaphone or tuba. In particular, there is no amplification needed for this band to perform in most contexts, resulting in a performance of great music, which contributes as little as possible to the greenhouse gases which are causing climate change. All of the instruments are easy to carry, so that whereever possible, public transport can be used to get to and from the gig. Even the sousaphone, when disassembled fits in a rucsack and our regular player often cycles to gigs in London. The lineup is flexible, with a minimum to work easily of a quintet, featuring sousaphone, trombone, sax, trumpet and drums, with extra brass and percussion being added to provide a great big funky orchestra.
